THIS EVENT IS NOW SOLD OUT
The St Barbara’s Day Luncheon is the final event of the year and celebrates the Feast of St Barbara – the Patron Saint of Miners.
Our guest speaker this year is Dr. Roy Woodall AO
After completing his studies in Geology at the University of Western Australia and the University of California, Dr. Woodall worked for the Western Mining Corporation (WMC) in Kalgoorlie, first as a Geologist and later as Chief Geologist and Exploration Manager.
Throughout his time with WMC, he provided outstanding technical and professional leadership which gave rise to a number of significant discoveries. These included the first commercial discovery of nickel sulphides in Australia, a discovery that led to the establishment of the Kambalda Nickel Operations, and the discovery of one of the most significant copper-uranium deposits at Olympic Dam, South Australia in 1975.
Dr. Woodall is a member of the Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy, the Geophysical Association of Australia, and the Royal Society of Western Australia. He is a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Technological Sciences. His many honours include Officer of the Order of Australia (AO), the Mawson Medal of the Australian Academy of Science, the AusIMM Institute Medal, and the Silver Medal of the Society of Economic Geologists.
Dr. Woodall was inducted into the Kalgoorlie-Boulder Walk of Fame in 2018 in recognition of his contribution and the significant impact his efforts have made for Kalgoorlie-Boulder both nationally and internationally.
A three-course Christmas luncheon will be enjoyed by guests as they hear from an industry giant who will impart a story on their journey in mining.
Add the Annual Grange auction in support of our charity partner St. John, entertainment and enjoy the start to the festive season with your colleagues, clients, and suppliers.
