Simon Thomas, Project Director, South Flank at BHP

Project Director for BHP’s South Flank iron ore project in the Pilbara, Simon Thomas’ expertise in major projects delivery spans the oil and gas, minerals processing, materials handling, agriculture and manufacturing sectors with a capex of >$A4 billion.
Previously as CEO of Veris, Simon was responsible for transforming the then small WA infrastructure contractor, to one of the top three national surveying businesses in Australia, over a three year period.
Simon is skilled in project master planning, scoping, design development, estimation and execution of both ‘greenfield’ and ‘brownfield’ projects from concept to completion.
He brings BHP Jimblebar project management experience to the $US3.6 billion South Flank project, which, when operational, will be the largest annual production iron ore mine BHP has developed.
Simon is an Australian Institute of Company Directors graduate and holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) from the University of Melbourne.
