$25,000 yellow pear diamond up for grabs

Each year, the WA Mining Club (WAMC) holds an Annual raffle to raise funds for the Royal Flying Doctors Service (RFDS) to support the organisation’s crucial service to rural and mining communities.

Since 2007, the raffle has raised over $120,000 for the RFDS, contributing to the operation and capability of the organisation by assisting to provide crucial support to fund the purchase of replacement aircraft, medical equipment and the ever-increasing costs of providing transport for patients in need of urgent medical attention.

The raffle is now an established activity on the WA Mining Club calendar receiving great support from members of the Club and others in the mining industry.

The raffle is enabled by the incredible support of sponsors each year. This year the raffle features three fabulous prizes kindly donated by the WAMC’s sponsor organisations.

First prize features a fancy yellow pear shaped brilliant cut diamond (1.57 carats weight,) valued at $25,000, purchased by Unity Publications and supplied by the Kimberley Diamond Company.

Second prize is three nights accommodation for two people at the Grand Hyatt Melbourne including a voucher for return airfares, valued at $2,300.

Finally, third prize is a stunning white gold pendant featuring an Australian South Sea Pearl and 0.12 carats of diamonds valued at $1,650.

This year’s much anticipated prize draw for the raffle will be drawn at the WAMC’s St Barbara’s Day Luncheon on 5 December 2014 at the Hyatt Regency Perth.

The St Barbara’s Day lunch provides an opportunity to consider and remember the members of the mining community who have lost their lives during the year. The lunch also allows the celebration of the rich endowment of mineral wealth that underpins much of our economy.

In 2012, the WAMC also introduced a second Annual Golf Day to raise funds to contribute to the operations of the RFDS in collaboration with the Annual raffle.

The WAMC calls on its members as well as other participants in the mining industry to add their support to initiatives such as the raffle to celebrate the industry and ensure there are essential medical services in the remote communities in which members operate.

Tickets for the RFDS raffle can be purchased at WAMC events or by downloading the 2014 raffle credit card form here.
