Why did you join the WA Mining Club Committee?
Through my role at Zenith Search, Bernard worked closely with mining companies across owners, contractors and consultancies, giving me real-time insight into market conditions, leadership capability, workforce trends and the challenges impacting growth and performance. This provides a broad, cross-sectional view of the industry that he can bring into Committee discussions.
Bernard’s earlier operational experience on site gave him a grounded perspective on the realities of mining, while his current role has strengthened my ability to think commercially, influence stakeholders and drive outcomes. Having previously served as Chair of the Young Professionals Advisory Committee at the WA Mining Club, Bernard also brings experience in governance, stakeholder engagement and delivering initiatives that resonate with members.
What do you want to achieve as a Committee Member?
Through his time leading the Young Professionals Advisory Committee, Bernard saw firsthand the impact the Club can have, not just as a networking platform, but as a driver of meaningful conversations, industry alignment and future leadership. That experience has made me want to contribute at a broader level. Bernard sees an opportunity to build on that foundation by strengthening engagement across all levels of the industry, from emerging talent through to senior leaders, while ensuring the Club continues to evolve alongside a changing mining landscape.
From a personal perspective, Bernard is at a stage in his career where he wants to give back more deliberately. He’s built strong relationships across the WA mining sector, and is motivated to use that network, along with his commercial mindset, to support the Club’s growth and relevance. Ultimately, Bernard is looking to contribute, not just participate, by bringing energy, ideas and a willingness to help drive outcomes that benefit both members and the broader industry.
