CEO and Managing Director
Mike Young is the Managing Director and CEO of Vimy Resources Limited, a uranium development company listed on the ASX. Vimy is focused on the development of the Mulga Rock Project in Western Australia – Australia’s third largest undeveloped uranium deposit. Mulga Rock will be a long-life mine with low costs and a low risk mining and metallurgical process.
Mike is also the non-executive Chairman and founder of ASX-listed Cassini Resources and a non-executive director of Ascot Resources.
Mike was the founding Managing Director of BC Iron Limited. He successfully steered BC Iron through initial exploration, resource definition, feasibility study, the negotiation of development agreements with Fortescue Metals Group, and ultimately the profitable production of iron ore – all in under four years from the first drill hole. When he left in May 2013, BC Iron had a market capitalisation of $500 million.
Mike is a geologist and graduated from Queens University, Canada in 1985 with a Bachelor of Science (Honours) degree in Geological Sciences. His experience includes base metals, iron ore, uranium and gold, with a strong focus on near-mine exploration, resource definition, and mine development.
Mike is also a participant in the 2015 and 2016 “Ride for Youth” to raise funds for the prevention of youth suicide and self-harm, and is Acting CEO of the Special Air Service Regiment Resource Trust.
