Why are you seeking a position on the WA Mining Club Committee?
I am seeking a position on the WA Mining Club Committee to help strengthen the connection between emerging mining professionals and the established industry leaders who have played a significant role in shaping the sector. I believe there is a valuable opportunity to further bridge the gap between early-career professionals and experienced members by creating stronger pathways for engagement, mentorship, networking, and long-term participation within the Club.
Having participated in the Emerging Leaders Program and worked across multiple areas of the mining industry, I have seen firsthand the importance of providing younger professionals with meaningful opportunities to build relationships, develop commercially and professionally, and gain exposure to experienced industry perspectives. At the same time, I believe there is significant value in ensuring experienced members remain closely connected to the priorities, challenges, and expectations of the next generation entering the sector.
I believe maintaining the right balance of youth and experience within the WA Mining Club is critical to ensuring the organisation remains relevant, progressive, and representative of the broader industry. Supporting a smooth transition from Emerging Professionals involvement into long-term membership and active participation is an important part of sustaining future engagement and continued membership growth.
Through my industry experience and leadership background, I would aim to contribute a practical and collaborative perspective to the Committee, while supporting initiatives that strengthen industry connection, encourage professional development, and continue building the WA Mining Club as a highly respected and inclusive industry network.
Please outline the skills, experience, and perspectives you would bring to the Committee:
I would bring a balanced combination of industry experience, commercial awareness, leadership capability, and stakeholder engagement skills that are directly applicable to a committee environment. Through my experience across mining sector capital and maintenance projects in Project Engineering, Project Management, and General Management roles, I have developed strong decision-making, communication, and strategic planning skills within fast-paced and outcome-focused environments.
My background has required regular collaboration with clients, contractors, operational teams, and senior stakeholders, which has strengthened my ability to build relationships, manage differing perspectives, and contribute effectively within team-based decision-making environments. I understand the importance of aligning outcomes with member interests while maintaining a practical and commercially sustainable approach.
I also bring experience in leadership, team development, and community engagement developed through both professional roles and long-term involvement in team sport environments. These experiences have reinforced the importance of accountability, collaboration, inclusiveness, and creating environments where people feel engaged and connected.
Having worked across site, project, OEM, and commercial environments, I believe I can contribute a broad and practical industry perspective to the Committee. I am particularly interested in supporting initiatives that strengthen member engagement, improve value for industry professionals, encourage emerging leaders, and ensure the WA Mining Club continues to remain relevant and well connected across all levels of the mining sector.

The WA Mining Club Emerging Professionals aspires to drive diversification and innovation within the mining industry, through creation of a forum that supports development and retention of young professionals. We will establish a career-long network of individuals who are building their careers in mining.
Members of the WA Mining Club receive access to a broad range of industry speakers, who discuss technical, operational, legislative and regulatory matters, as well as sharing thoughts on the broader industry.
Our monthly luncheons are regularly attended by in excess of 300 members, all eager to listen, talk and share information about their experiences with their industry peers.
