Why are you interested in joining the Emerging Professionals Advisory Committee (EPAC)?
As a regular attendee of both EPAC and WAMC events I have seen first hand the value that is provided to its members. The opportunity for emerging professionals to access high quality conversations with industry professionals along with others in a similar position is incredibly beneficial.
I believe that my time spent as a regular member along with my experince in a specialst contracting, OEM, capital projects and business management will provide an important insight into what areas are relevant and important to the next generation of EP’s.
Please share any ideas or initiatives you would introduce to better engage Emerging Professionals across the industry and grow participation in WA Mining Club EP events:
Make the content immediately useful.
Shift from purely social or panel formats to sessions that help attendees solve real problems—career progression, moving from site to corporate roles, commercial acumen, or managing first leadership positions. Workshops or “how-to” sessions (contracts, project risk, stakeholder management).
Create structured networking (not just drinks even though we tend to enjoy that)
Unstructured networking can be awkward and low-yield for early-career professionals. Introduce facilitated formats—speed networking, small-group roundtables, or mentor rotations with senior leaders. Whilst that level of structure could be difficult a more formated approach to engaging all attendees would be beneficial.
Organise for times that EP’s are available.
Whilst the EPAC has done a great job of trying to ensure that all events are accisble for EP’s that potentially dont have the flexibility in their work schedule, I believe this should stay front of mind and look to provide a marketed approach to helping EP’s approach their managers to approve the attendance at these types of events.

The WA Mining Club Emerging Professionals aspires to drive diversification and innovation within the mining industry, through creation of a forum that supports development and retention of young professionals. We will establish a career-long network of individuals who are building their careers in mining.
Members of the WA Mining Club receive access to a broad range of industry speakers, who discuss technical, operational, legislative and regulatory matters, as well as sharing thoughts on the broader industry.
Our monthly luncheons are regularly attended by in excess of 300 members, all eager to listen, talk and share information about their experiences with their industry peers.
Being a member of the WA Mining Club provides the very best opportunity around to meet other industry professionals and discuss topical issues, challenges and innovations with others across the spectrum of the Western Australian mining industry.
