The WA Mining Club was proud to be represented at the 2025 AAMEG Africa Awards Ceremony, held on Thursday, 4 September at the Pan Pacific Hotel in Perth. The event, staged alongside the Africa Down Under Conference, brought together leaders from across the resources sector to celebrate excellence in Australian companies operating in Africa. It was an evening that highlighted the importance of ESG practices, innovation, and collaboration, with our committee members Drew O’Sullivan, Rob Humphryson, and Tim Taylor in attendance.
The evening commenced with the awards ceremony, where companies and individuals were recognised for their outstanding contributions to Africa’s mining and energy landscape. Among the winners were DRA Global for excellence in social development, Eco Detection for excellence in innovation, Perseus Mining for operational excellence, and Bicycles for Humanity, who took home the Change Maker award for their not-for-profit work. Rising Star Tozama Kulati Siwisa from West Wits Mining was also honoured, reflecting the next generation of leadership emerging within the industry.
Following the formal proceedings, the cocktail reception, generously sponsored by CrossBoundary Energy, offered an opportunity for networking in a more relaxed setting. Guests enjoyed discussions with peers, government officials, and industry innovators, all sharing insights on how Australia’s mining expertise is shaping sustainable development across Africa. For Drew, Rob, and Tim, it was a valuable chance to engage with leaders at the forefront of positive change and to represent the WA Mining Club’s commitment to supporting future-focused mining.
