This year we have brought forward our scholarship process to align better with the academic year so that funds can be utilised for fees and expenses in the academic year. Scholarships will be awarded in April at a dedicated scholarship dinner where we will have the opportunity to recognise finalists with their families as well as sponsors. Others in attendance will include life members, WAMC committee and special guests.
”I am very grateful for the support of both WAMC and IGO this year, and I look forward to becoming more involved in the club in the future, and meeting many more like minded people in my field of study. Not only does this scholarship provide financial support to students; but it provides industry experience, mentorship, access to specialist training programs, and invaluable connections for the future through invitation to ongoing WAMC luncheons.” – Jac Harding, Previous WA Mining Club Scholarship Winner.
Barry Upton leads the WA Mining Club’s scholarship program, commented. ”The Club believes it is of vital importance to award as many Scholarships as possible to keep our industry strong and our future secure with support for a dedicated pipeline of students studying mining and mining related disciplines. Please spread the word, the larger the applicant pool the higher the distinction for the winners.”
Emma Hodges, Winner of 2021 Female Student in a Technical Discipline Scholarship commented on her experience through the WA Mining Scholarship.
“I want to thank the WA Mining Club one more time as so many doors have opened for me since receiving the 2021 scholarship. I’m so grateful to everyone involved and can’t wait to start working within this industry next year. This opportunity has been life changing and has set me up for my dream career. I’ll definitely make the effort to stay in touch with the club and hopefully attend another luncheon when I come back to Western Australia.”
