This month, we’re proud to feature Sam Murphy, Operations Manager & Director at Danv Tools Australia, as our WA Mining Club Member of the Month.
Sam has been a member of the WA Mining Club for three years and values the opportunity to connect with colleagues from the industry while gaining knowledge from experienced professionals. He appreciates the incredible guest speakers who provide insights into the state of minerals, energy policies, and the broader impact on the industry.
With 17 years in the mining sector, Sam first entered the field as an offsider for Wallis Drilling, working on an Aircore drill.
Over the years, he has developed a deep understanding of the industry and its evolving challenges.
Reflecting on his career, Sam credits Jim Rayner from his time at Downer Mining as his most memorable boss. Jim instilled in him the philosophy that relationships come first and contracts second, emphasising that strong client relationships lead to long-term success. This lesson has shaped the way Sam approaches business, with trust and connection at the forefront.
If given the chance to host a dream dinner, Sam’s guest list would include his wife, who he insists must be there when he finally meets Arnold Schwarzenegger, and musician Jelly Roll.
