Since 1981 the West Australian Mining Club has been providing Student
Prizes to each of the four Western Australian universities. From 1981 until
1991 the prize was valued at $75 and awarded as a book prize. In 1992 the prize
was increased to a $100 book prize. In 1994 the prize was changed to a cash
prize of $100. Subsequently in 1997 the prize was again increased, this time to
a $400 cash prize. Currently the Club awards four $500 cash prizes to students at each Western Australian University
