St Barbara’s Day pays tribute to the patron saint of the mining industry was celebrated this year by a remembrance ceremony and luncheon hosted by the West Australian Mining Club (WAMC) on Friday 2 December 2011.
This day provided an opportunity to consider and remember those unfortunate members of mining communities who lost their lives during the year. It also allowed celebration of the rich endowment of mineral wealth that underpins much of our economy.
The lunch provided members and guests with opportunities for industry networking, entertainment and they witnessed the much-anticipated prize draw for the club’s annual fund-raising raffle. Proceeds from the raffle went to the
Royal Flying Doctor Service.
